HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – The City of Hinton is excited to announce the recent hire of Megan Stevens as a full-time Administrative Assistant. Megan has jumped into learning everything there is to know about city operations and will begin to assume a variety of roles including Coordinator of Parks and Recreation to help develop outdoor recreation opportunities that will help expand local economy and tourism footprint.
Stevens is a passionate outdoor enthusiast from Raleigh, North Carolina. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management in 2020 and went on to complete her master’s in Experiential and Outdoor Education from Western Carolina University in 2022.
Her training combines her love of nature with a commitment to foster learning through hands-on experiences. Stevens’ personal goal is to bring people together through outdoor activities that create meaningful connections with nature by focusing on providing enriching experiences that promote personal growth, environmental stewardship and community engagement. “I am excited to be a part of the wonderful opportunities happening in Hinton and Summers County,” said Stevens.
“We are extremely excited to have someone with Megan’s experience and education to help guide the city. Outdoor recreation can help us create jobs, new businesses and will bring us much-needed exposure,” Mayor Jack Scott said.
Stevens’ experience includes employment with the City of Raleigh and the City of Asheville, North Carolina in outdoor recreation roles.
She is engaged to Summers County native, Tyler Turner, and will reside in Hinton and Summers County.
