HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – On Sunday, Sept. 15 an officer was on patrol in the vicinity of James Street when David Terry was spotted on an orange bicycle wearing a black shirt and camouflage hat. According to the criminal complaint, Terry has an outstanding warrant and has allegedly been avoiding law enforcement for a while. Allegedly, Terry began to flee on his bicycle as the officer attempted to make contact. The officer activated lights and siren and began to pursue the defendant, who turned and gave the officer the middle finger multiple times while yelling, “F__ you.“ Terry reportedly refused to stop after being ordered to do so and then proceeded to punch the mirror on the officer’s police cruiser while the officer was attempting to drive beside him. The officer pursued the defendant from James Street to 2nd Avenue where he turned left onto Cardinal Way behind the Summers County Sheriff’s Department. The officer then lost sight of the defendant. The officer requested a warrant be issued for David Lee Terry on the charges of obstructing an officer and fleeing.
Terry was arrested and booked into Southern Regional Jail on Sept. 17. He remains in custody on a $5,000 bail amount and a $500 bail amount.
