HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – The Summers County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Summers County Courthouse on Sept. 26 for the complaint of a threat being made. According to the criminal complaint, the caller stated an individual identified as Johnathan Pilkington, 71, of Hinton, asked if he killed everyone in the office, would he still have to pay taxes. This threat was allegedly made while a worker was speaking with Pilkington. Three customers in the office reportedly heard the statement being made.

The primary function of the Summers County Sheriff’s Department tax office is to collect taxes and this statement was reportedly made at the tax office located in Hinton.

Pilkington was arrested but is not listed as an inmate at Southern Regional Jail at the time of writing.
