Hinton, W.Va. (Hinton News) – Mountain State students studying horticulture, landscape architecture, and nursery and greenhouse management have two weeks to apply for the West Virginia Nursery & Landscape Association’s (WVNLA) Marcus W. Rennix Memorial Scholarship program. The deadline for online applications is Sept. 30.
Third generation nursery owner Norman H. Cole III of Pipestem said the WVNLA scholarship program has helped him personally as well as their employees over the last 40 years.
Cole, president of Cole Nurseries, Inc., said, “As a former WVNLA scholarship recipient, it was an honor to receive the award from this organization. The money helped me then and can help you now with books and tuition, and can give you a jump start as you work towards your goals. The WVNLA wants to support the next generation of landscape and nursery professionals like you so take a minute and submit your application.”
Cole was awarded the WVNLA Rennix Memorial Scholarship in 1988 and 1989 while studying landscape and horticulture at West Virginia University.
Information about the scholarships can be found at WVNLA’s website: https://wvnla.org/scholarships/. Winners will be introduced at the association’s Winter Symposium, to be held in Charleston on Feb. 11, 2025.
