ATHENS, W.Va. (Hinton News) – The Upward Bound program is excited to announce that it is currently developing a clothing closet to support its students. This initiative aims to provide a range of clothing options for both academic enrichment trips and everyday school needs. By offering access to appropriate and stylish attire, the clothing closet will help ensure that students feel confident and prepared for their educational activities and school life. This resource underscores our commitment to addressing the practical needs of our students and enhancing their overall experience in the Upward Bound program. For information about how to donate clothing, contact Adrian Cabello Espinar at 304-384-2459 or aespinar@concord.edu.
Upward Bound at Concord University is an educational program designed to support and enhance the academic journey of high school students who will be first generation college students of underrepresented backgrounds. This initiative aims to foster a college-going culture by providing participants with a range of services, including tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment activities. Through workshops, academic counseling, and summer sessions, Upward Bound helps students develop essential skills and confidence needed for higher education. By bridging the gap between secondary and postsecondary education, the program seeks to empower students to achieve their academic goals and pursue college opportunities they might not have otherwise considered.
