SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) – The Hinton Area Foundation has announced its 2024 Fall Grant Cycle with the “Classes of Hinton High School/Making a Difference” (MAD) Grant and Learning Innovations Mini-Grant.

HAF is proud to offer MAD grants to support community improvement projects that help improve Summers County and engage community members as volunteers. While full project funding requests from HAF will be considered, MAD grant applications that request matching funds may receive priority. Grant activities should stimulate community engagement and support sustainable projects within the community. The deadline for MAD is September 30, 2024.

Learning Innovations Mini-Grants provide an award up to $500 to Summers County teachers, Pre-K to 12th, for projects that have educational merit, creative learning, innovation and student achievement. The deadline for Mini-Grants is October 1, 2024.

Interested applicants should visit hintonareafoundation.org/grants for information and application.

Incomplete entries may not be considered. Hardcopies must be mailed to: Hinton Area Foundation, PO Box 217, Hinton, WV 25951.

Summers County Humane Society/ACWP volunteer Martha Braswell receives a grant from the Hinton Area Foundation’s Greg Vandall (left) for $1500 to support K900 field trips to take a van full of dogs to a local park, on a designated day, in the hopes of drawing out new volunteers to come and meet the dogs and give them some exercise. Christina Cochran (right) explained, “It’s hoped these field trips will result in some new volunteers for the humane society, some happy pups, and more community awareness of what we do. The funding will offset the cost of gas to get the dogs back and forth, as well as lunch and other supplies for the volunteers.  There will be future details on this program and when the first dog walks will be."
