WEST VIRGINIA (Hinton News) – The West Virginia State Police were recently involved in a Large-Scale drug bust that spanned multiple states and territories. The WVSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation released the following statement:
“On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, members of the West Virginia State Police Martinsburg Bureau of Criminal Investigations office and the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force (consisting of law enforcement members from local Federal/State/County/City agencies) executed numerous arrest and search warrants throughout Berkeley and Jefferson County.
“Simultaneously assisting agencies targeted numerous locations for out of state targets and into Puerto Rico.
“This was the culmination of an investigation which began in May of 2021. As a result of drug investigation, which extended from WV, MD, VA, PA, CA, PR, and Mexico, there were twenty-five (25) people indicted on sixty-three (63) felony counts.
“Investigations leading up to the indictments have seized over four (4) kilograms of cocaine, one and a half (1.5) ounce of fentanyl, three and a half (3.5) kilograms of pressed fentanyl, six hundred (600) grams of heroin, two and a half (2.5) kilograms of black tar heroin, one (I) pound of crystal methamphetamine, and seventeen (17) firearms.
“As a result of today’s execution of arrest and search warrants, an additional five (5) ounces of cocaine, one (I) ounce of marijuana, numerous Xanax bars, approximately $4,000.00 in U. S. currency, six (6) firearms, two hundred (200) rounds of piston ammunition, fifty (50) rounds of. 556 ammunition, and a drug press were seized.
“Twenty-one (21) of the twenty-five (25) subjects indicted have been arrested and one (l) additional drug arrest was made as of the typing of this press release.”
