ALDERSON W.Va. (Hinton News) – Summers County police responded to a call regarding alleged domestic violence in the area of Autumn Street in Alderson on June 24. According to the criminal complaint, the responding officer was advised that an individual named Dexter Williams, was “in possession of a firearm and suicidal.”
When officers arrived at the residence, a person was noted fleeing from the yard, according to the criminal complaint. At that point, multiple officers began a foot pursuit. Officers ordered the person to stop, however the person reportedly ignored the comand. Once taken into custody, the individual was identified as Dexter Williams, 23, of Alderson, whose legal name differs.
Officers spoke with Williams’ girlfriend who reportedly stated that he had consumed a large amount of alcohol and that they had been involved in a verbal argument. The criminal complaint also states that the victim reported Williams had shoved her more than once. While investigating, officers report that they determined Williams had brandished a rifle during the alleged argument.
Reportedly, the victim stated that she feared for her life and had taken her small child to a neighbor’s house. Police seized a 22 rifle from the scene as evidence.
At the time of writing, Williams is incarcerated at Southern Regional Jail with bail set at $2,000.
