BECKLEY W.Va. (Hinton News) – Two sets of human remains were discovered by authorities on Monday, April 22, during an excavation related to a cold case. The bodies are believed to be those of Susan and Alex Carter who went missing in 2000. The West Virginia State Police and FBI conducted the excavation on a property located on Kyle Lane in Beckley where the suspect, Larry Webb, used to live.
According to the West Virginia State Police, on the same day, Webb passed away following a medical episode. He was incarcerated at Mount Olive at the time.
In a statement, WVSP said, “On 04-22-24, as part of an ongoing investigation, members of the West Virginia State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation continued excavation efforts to locate the remains of Susan and Natasha ‘Alex’ Carter.
“On this same date at approximately 1030 hours, the suspect Larry Webb, who has been incarcerated at Mount Olive suffered a medical episode and was pronounced dead at Montgomery General Hospital.”
The statement goes on to say, “On this same date at approximately 1630 hours while excavating the property at 126 Kyle Lane, investigators discovered remains believed to be those of Susan and Alex Carter. Additional information will be released at a later date.”
