GREENBRIER RIVER (Hinton News) – The Greenbrier River Watershed Association has begun its water quality monitoring project in collaboration with the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine. The Greenbrier River is a multi-use watershed with many people enjoying contact by boating, fishing and swimming.
The goal is to gain a view of the overall health of the river through long-term monitoring and offer assistance if any problems are detected. Volunteers are assisting by teaming up into sections of the river and taking samples once a month on the same day, all year long. The samples are taken to the Osteopath school lab for testing. The monitoring begins at Durbin and ends at Hinton on the river’s main stem.
