CHARLESTON, WV. (Hinton News) – The U.S. Marshals Southern District of West Virginia CUFFED Task Force and Task Force Partners have just ended a weeklong warrant sweep in Southern West Virginia. Operation True Optics ran from June 26-30, 2023, targeting the greater Greenbrier, Fayette, and Raleigh Counties within the Southern District of West Virginia.
The warrants served were for various felony offenses to include: Homicide, Kidnapping. Malicious Wounding, Wanton Endangerment, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession with Intent to Deliver.
Over the 5-day operation, 48 suspects were arrested, 249.92 grams of fentanyl, 98.39 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of crack cocaine, 11.42 grams of marijuana, 5 firearms, and $182,187 were seized.
U.S. Marshal Michael Baylous said, “Operation True Optics proved to be an absolute success, as the CUFFED Task Force took light into those dark areas where fugitives like to hide.”
Over 20 agencies were involved in Operation True Optics to include: U.S. Marshals Southern District of West Virginia and Eastern District of Kentucky, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Beckley Police Department, Lewisburg Police Department, Princeton Police Department and WV Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
