ALDERSON, WV (WVDN) – The small town of Alderson, West Virginia, came alive with patriotic spirit as residents and visitors gathered to celebrate Independence Day with the annual 4th of July parade. The event, held in the heart of downtown Alderson, showcased the community’s pride and love for their country. This event, a long-standing tradition in Alderson, featured a colorful display of floats, community organizations, firetrucks from multiple areas and more. The streets were lined with enthusiastic spectators of all ages.

Despite a late start, sweltering heat and the possibility of rain, the 2023 Alderson 4th of July Parade wound through the town, delighting the crowd. The parade kicked off with local police cruisers. A variety of floats made their way down the parade route, each one creatively decorated to reflect the spirit of the holiday. From patriotic themes to nods to local history, the floats captured the essence of Alderson’s unique community.

Local businesses and organizations also took part in the parade, showcasing their support for the town and its residents. The Alderson Volunteer Fire Department displayed its impressive fire trucks, while winners of the Miss Fireworks and other local pageants waved to the crowd.

The parade wouldn’t be complete without a couple of lion mascots interacting with viewers. Several groups showcased their musical talents, filling the air with songs that had everyone tapping their feet.

The Alderson 4th of July parade is not only a celebration of America’s independence but also a testament to the strong sense of community that exists in this small town. It brings together people from all walks of life, fostering a sense of unity and pride.

In addition to the parade, Alderson also hosted a variety of other activities throughout the day, including live music, and a fireworks display in the evening. These events provided opportunities for residents and visitors to come together and enjoy the festivities in true American style.

As the sun set on Alderson, the fireworks lit up the night sky, painting a beautiful picture of red, white, and blue. It was a fitting end to a day filled with joy and celebration.

The Alderson 4th of July parade is a cherished tradition that brings the community together, reminding everyone of the importance of freedom and unity. It serves as a reminder that, no matter how small a town may be, the spirit of patriotism and love for country can shine brightly.
