HINTON, (Hinton News) – Officers responded to an alleged domestic situation on Friday, May 5. Following an investigation, one individual was arrested; Mark Collin Yancey, 26, of Hinton.

The criminal complaint states that officers arrived to find Yancey and the victim in the residence. Reportedly, an officer spoke to the victim and noted a bruise on their neck. According to the complaint, the victim stated that Yancey had choked them. Other officers talked to Yancey during the same time period.

While the officer spoke with the victim, the criminal complaint states that a commotion drew their attention. At this time, Yancey allegedly yelled the victim’s name and attempted to walk away from the officers with him and approach the other officer and the victim, allegedly to hinder the investigation.

According to the criminal complaint, one officer attempted to place Yancey in handcuffs, and Yancey subsequently pulled away. At this point, the complaint states that Yancey began to resist. After gaining control, officers reportedly placed Yancey in one of the police cruisers, where he allegedly tried to break free. The complaint also notes that the vehicle cage sustained damage during the incident.

At the time of writing, Yancey is in Southern Regional Jail facing multiple charges. One charge has been given no bond, while the others have a bail amount set at $5,000.
