MEADOW BRIDGE, (Hinton News) – Officers responded to a disturbance involving shots fired on Wickline Cemetary Road on Tuesday, May 9. After investigation, Donald Lee Adkins, 43, of Meadow Bridge, was arrested.

According to the criminal complaint, officers arrived on the scene where they spoke with Adkins, who allegedly stated that he and the victim had gotten into a verbal argument over a dog.

Reportedly, Adkins retrieved a 12-gauge shotgun after the victim exited the residence. The criminal complaint states that Adkins returned to the living room area and shot the firearm at the victim, who remained on the porch, striking him once in the hand. Allegedly, the victim also had a weapon, specifically a 9mm handgun he used to fire in the direction of Adkins.

According to the criminal complaint, Adkins’ girlfriend was in the living room throughout the incident.

At the time of writing, Adkins is in Southern Regional Jail, and his bail is set at $75,000.
