JUMPING BRANCH, (Hinton News) – Firefighters from five departments in Summers and Raleigh counties, along with multiple responders from the WV Division of Forestry, battled a brush fire around nine hours on Tuesday, April 18. The call went out in the early afternoon for a brush fire in the area of Will Dodd Road in Jumping Branch. Crews continued to fight the multiple-acre fire until late in the evening.
The previous day, Governor Justice issued a proclamation banning outdoor burning due to weather conditions exponentially increasing the risk of brush and forest fires.
According to responding firefighters, the cause of the brush fire is under investigation. Hinton News will keep you updated when more information becomes available.
