SUMMERS COUNTY (Hinton News) – Multiple areas in Summers County suffered some damage from Thursday’s rain and storms. Hinton News has received multiple unconfirmed reports of rock/mudslides and damaged roads in the Talcott and Forest Hill areas.
According to Summers County Transportation, several buses are not running today. Bus 156 will not run Claypool; Bus 138 will not run War Ridge; Bus 13 will not run Leatherwood.
An admin for the Talcott Fire Department Facebook page noted that Hungards Creek Road and Powleys Creek Road are blocked by water. Hungards Creek is blocked at the intersection with Judson and Powleys Creek is blocked at the tunnel.
At the time of writing, the Greenbrier River at the Alderson gauge is at 8.36 feet. The action stage begins at nine feet. The National Weather Service Advanced Hydrological Prediction Service indicates that the area is predicted to rise to 13.6 feet by 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. The same service shows a current level of approximately 9.04 feet at the Hilldale gauge with no future predictions available.
