Skewes Family Foundation has been a major donor to Beyond Wishes Therapeutic Riding Program since its beginning. This year is no different with their very generous donation of $10,000. Skewes Family Foundation has been a cornerstone to Beyond Wishes’ success. This donation will be used for horse care, sponsorship, continuing education, facility upkeep, and insurance to mention a few. This donation is used wherever it’s needed. The Skewes Family Foundation was started in 2004 by William G. Skewes, Sr. to provide charitable financial support to community development projects in the coal fields of Southern West Virginia and Southwest Virginia.

With the cost of everything from hay to hoof dressing going up, donations are more important than ever.

Beyond Wishes Therapeutic Riding Program is a small non-profit that helps individuals with special needs have an equine experience that carries many benefits. There are not only physical but cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual benefits that come when working with horses.

Many students come on a weekly visit but also Beyond Wishes has a variety of specialty programs. Miniature horses travel to long-term care facilities, schools, camps, etc. With COVID more under control, Beyond Wishes is hoping to have more mobile trips this coming season. Also provided upon request is a free Veterans program, field trips, day camps, student competition and development for high-risk youth. These specialty programs are all sponsored and at no cost to the groups or individuals.

Beyond Wishes Therapeutic Riding Program is an all-volunteer program with many special people making it a success. Of course, the equine partners make it all happen and are our biggest assets. Thanks again to Skewes Family Foundation and everyone else that makes this possible.
