In a recent statement, the City of Hinton noted that they are working closely with the State Department of Highways office regarding the 17th Ave. culvert collapse. According to the statement, DOH is performing core drillings to test the soil strength and composition in the area.

Additionally, the City is reportedly working towards removing the building from the area to aid DOH in making the necessary repairs.

The City asks for residents’ patience as work continues, noting that the project has the potential to be a long process as the team determines the best solutions. The statement goes on to say that DOH has already lined the old culvert to the best of its abilities and stabilized the road.
