The Wednesday Club of Hinton, organized in 1906, is celebrating its 116th year. One of the club’s objectives is to make itself a power for good in the community. In that spirit, a Community Improvement Project was established and planters were donated and purchased. Club members planted colorful flowers in the Spring and greens for the winter months. Each year planters were added and soon they were planting 52 boxes. Planting is only one piece of the project: there is the buying, designing, preparing and placing of the planters.
Last year 24 larger round pots were purchased and planted. The spring plantings flourished (with the help of those watering the pots). For the Holidays, seasonal flags were put into the pots surrounded by greenery.
This year the Wednesday Club asked Jordan Wills from Serenity Gardens to plant the now 27 large pots placed throughout Hinton. That still left 22 small planters for the club members to plant.
The flowers welcome our visitors, cheer our shop owners, and enhance an already beautiful little city. Take a look at the beautiful flowers The Wednesday Club planted in front of our Post Office. While we all enjoy the beautification it is difficult to get these flowers watered on a regular basis. Shop owners, neighbors, friends and the City of Hinton have graciously offered help with this important job.
Many thanks to the Community Improvement Committee and especially to Barbara Parmer, Barbara Bowling and our indispensable Jim Bowling.
