K9 officer Mack who has served both the Hinton Police Department and the Summers County Sheriff’s Department has officially retired. Until recently, Mack and his handler Patrolman J.C Wheeler served the community through the HPD. Following Wheeler’s decision to pursue a career with the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources, it was decided that Mack would move forward with retirement.
In a statement issued to the HPD Facebook page, the department wished K9 Mack a happy retirement. The statement said, “The Hinton Police Department wishes you both [Wheeler and Mack] the best of luck moving forward. J.C., give that boy a steak!”
