STACKLIN
Thomas George Stacklin, 66, of Hinton, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 at Kanawha Hospice at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston following a long illness.
Born October 22, 1955 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas H. and Elizabeth M. “Lorraine” George Stacklin.
Tom was a native of Mount Washington, PA and a graduate of Slippery Rock University. He was a retired schoolteacher for Summers County Schools. His memorable teaching career of 33 years included classrooms at Avis, Bellepoint, and Hinton Area Elementary. He loved teaching and all his students. Teaching was not a job to him-it was his calling.
He had been a resident of Hinton since August of 1977 and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton. Tom was a Girl Scouts “Daisy Dad” at Hinton Area Elementary and a member of both the WVEA and AFT. He was also a former CCD Teacher at St. Patrick Parish. He was an avid “Weather Watcher”; loved his dogs, Midnight and Evie; and adored his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Russo.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia A. Russo Stacklin; one daughter, Ann Marie Perry and husband, Neil of Charleston; two brothers, Andrew Stacklin and wife, Anne of California and Paul Stacklin of Indonesia; three grandchildren, Jaxon, Thomas “Bruce”, and Greta Ann; special aunt and uncle, Eleanor and David Quigley of Pittsburgh also survive.
Private graveside services and committal were held at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. A public memorial Mass was held at 12 noon Tuesday, December 21, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hinton with Fr. Meo Bicalso, SVD as celebrant. Visitation with the family followed the Mass in the parish hall.
