The Summers County Library is preparing for two brand new events. First, they will be holding a Books A La Carte “Book Tasting.” The second event is a “Crafternoon” at the library. Each of these events will take place during the month of November.
Out of the two events, the “Book Tasting” will take place first on Wednesday, Nov. 10 between 3:30 and 5 p.m. This event is geared to students in grades one through five. A book tasting does not involve eating books as the name may imply. Rather it is a way to introduce a group to a wide range of books that they may want to read. Generally, the library will set up tables for the participants in a cage style. Each table will be presented with a tray filled with books. After the tables look at those books, a different tray is presented so that there are always new books to look at. Often, there will also be blank “menus” where participants can write down the titles of any books they would like to read.
Crafters of all ages will want to stop by the library on Wednesday, Nov. 24 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a fun “Crafternoon.” The afternoon will be filled with fun craft projects appropriate for any age. Projects could include almost anything.
For more information on either of these events, call the library at 304-466-4490 and ask for Special Projects Coordinator Kris Kellen.
