On Saturday, September 4th, Festival of the Rivers will celebrate its seventeenth year! It will be a day of live music, local artists, food and fun at Hinton’s Freight Depot.
Campbell-Flannagan-Murrell House Museum on Summers St. and 5th Ave. has organized this Festival since 2004. It is a FREE Festival sponsored by a grant given to the Museum by West Virginia’s Department of Arts, Culture and History. That grant allows the Museum to hire local and visiting musicians. Along with the state’s financial help, it takes many hands to bring the festival together. The City of Hinton, Museum supporters and volunteers are all needed to provide the community and its visitors a good time.
The music will begin at 12:00 PM and continue until 9:00 PM. Vendors will set up at 10:00AM. We are hoping any local social services or clubs will take advantage of sharing an awareness of their program.
If you haven’t been to Hinton’s Freight Depot, you are in for a treat. It’s a great venue for this Festival. There’s plenty of room for vendors and the musicians are right on the deck. The Depot is located on Commercial Street in Hinton and there’s plenty of parking.
We are currently still looking for vendors in arts and food, organizations, clubs, and games to participate in the Festival. If you are interested, please call City Hall at 304-466-3255 and ask for Candice Helms.
