With the beginning of the school year fast approaching, Summers County schools are in high gear with preparations. Enrollment days, parking pass sales and other important events are either already taking place or will be soon.
Hinton Area Elementary announced that if a student still needs to be enrolled, parents can stop by the school between Aug. 10 and 13 from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The announcement states that parents must bring the child’s birth certificate and shot record.
For students attending Summers County High School grades, 6 through 12, lockers and parking passes go on sale on August 12 at 9 a.m. The cost for lockers is $10 and parking passes are $50. However, students with a 3.0 or higher GPA will receive a discount on parking passes. The cost for these students is $25.
Girls volleyball for both high school and middle are holding tryouts. The high school tryouts took place on Aug. 9. Middle School tryouts will be on Aug.16 from 3:45 until 5:45 p.m. at the middle school.
Schedules have already been released for Summers County Bobcats football and Lady Bobcats volleyball games. The first football game is scheduled for Aug. 26. It will be a home game against Pikeview. The first volleyball game is scheduled for Aug. 25 and will also be a home game against Pikeview.
