On Friday, May 7 cars lined up awaiting their boxes of food. The drive-up distribution was held by REACHH-FRC/Child Advocacy Center with the help of the United States Department of Agriculture and Save the Children at the Lifeline Church in Hinton.
REACHH-FRC/Child Advocacy Center’s Executive Director, Doris Selko said “REACHH-FRC has partnered with Save the Children and the USDA to bring food boxes to Summers County in order to assist families that may be facing food insecurities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was our third successful giveaway! Each box contains meat, dairy products, vegetables and fruit. They weigh approximately 30 pounds and are valued at over $32.”
Volunteers helped get the food distributed quickly. Among those volunteers were the Summers County High School football coach and a few guys from his team.
“REACHH would definitely like to send a big thank you to the football team for their help on Frida. They did the majority of the heavy lifting and we can’t thank them enough,” said Selko.
