On Thursday, May 6, Summers County High School Officials took to social media to announce the 2021 graduation plan.
The plan, which was written as a letter from Principal Daniel Hudgins to graduating seniors, states:
“Attention Class of 2021.
We are rapidly approaching graduation day. I know each of you are anxiously awaiting the plan for graduation. So, with that, the following are key deadlines, dates and information to be aware of as May 21st draws near.
1. May 14, 2021 –
- Last day of school for Seniors
- Last day for senior grades
2. May 17, 2021 –
- Senior grades finalized and Honor Graduates announced by administration
3. May 20, 2021 –
- Senior walk to Hinton Area Elementary, Talcott Elementary, Jumping Branch Elementary and SMS Building – bus will leave school at 10:00 a.m.
- Following the senior walk, seniors will visit Bellepoint Park and have a traditional pizza party. Est. time is 12:00 p.m.
- Graduation practice will be on Thursday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m., please arrive by 1:45 p.m.
4. May 21, 2021 –
- Graduation ceremony will be at Garten Stadium on the campus of Summers County High School. Should there be inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the gym.
- Regardless of the venue, the ceremony begins at 6:00 p.m. and students need to arrive by 5:00 p.m.
COVID-19 pandemic guidelines (football field)
- 10 guests per graduate
- Core family groups must sit together in a designated area and seating will be based on arrival time
- All guests will be on a pre-prepared list and checked off as they arrive
- Masks on during ceremony
- Guests will need to exit the football stadium immediately following the ceremony
COVID-19 pandemic guidelines (inclement weather – SCHS Gym)
- Guests will be reduced to four per graduate on your submitted list, indicate your top four choices
- Stay with core family group
- Seating based on arrival time
- All guests will be on a pre-prepared list and checked off as they arrive
- Masks on during ceremony
- Guests will need to exit the gym immediately following the ceremony
- Graduation ceremony will be live streamed on SCHS Facebook page via Facebook Live.”
