In a quite unusual year, Summers County parents have come together to give a sense of normalcy for juniors/seniors and plan a Prom despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
All COVID-19 guidelines will be followed to ensure the safety of all. The parents say the theme of the prom will be “Enchanted Forest” and the event will be held on May 8 at the McCreery Conference and Event Center.
This event is not affiliated with Summers County High School. It is a parent-organized and sponsored event. These parents are planning the event to show their gratitude for the juniors and seniors strength and resilience during such difficult times.
Parent Dena Pivont said, “We just wanted to try to fill in some gaps that have been left by this past year. So many students have missed out on typical high school memories such as Prom. We hope to give them a memory they will never forget. We are very grateful to Mr. Kenny Allman who has graciously volunteered the use of the McCreery Hotel for the event.”
To make this event happen, the group of parents welcome donations from local businesses and community members. You can drop off your contribution to Heidi Richmond at Hinton City Hall.
