The Summers County Public Library offers many resources for adults interested in furthering their education.
The library offers aid for gaining a high school equivalency diploma as well as offer certification classes, computer classes and so much more. In addition, they also offer assistance with finding employment.
For those in need of obtaining a GED, the Summers County Adult Education Program, through the Summers County Public Library, offers tutoring in advance of taking the test. This is a vital program for anyone who wants to challenge the GED test.
Beyond GED tutoring, the Summers County Adult Education Program also offers a variety of classes. This includes Computer Essentials and IC3 programs. IC3 stands for Internet Core Competency Certification and is the benchmark, worldwide for determining a student’s understanding of computer systems. This includes the hardware and software as well as networking and firmware. The IC3 is also the way to gauge computer literacy.
Some of the other certifications offered include Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), Customer service Certifications (Part one and two), Computer essentials Certificate of Achievement and Certificate of Work Ethic Proficiency. In addition, they offer Career Pathways: Health Care Industry, Hospitality and Tourism, and Entrepreneurship. Some of the programs offered count toward college credit.
The Summers County Adult Education program can also assist enroll anyone with internet access who is interested, in certifications that can be completed at home. This is only recommended for those with a reliable internet connection.
Other programs offered, revolve around career development. One of the topics they provide assistance with is resume development, enrollment in post-secondary education, selecting a program of study, FAFSA, finding employment and tutoring.

Another option is to stop by and inquire at the front desk or on the third floor of the library. Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The library is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
