After canceling their 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Second Saturdays is returning to Hinton in 2021. Now that pandemic restrictions have begun to ease, Second Saturdays took to social media to announce the events return.
In a recent announcement on the Second Saturdays in Hinton, WV Facebook page, the date of the first event was revealed. In their first announcement, they had the first event set to be the Sgt. Mecot Camara Memorial Ride. This will be the third annual Sgt. Mecot Memorial Ride. Anyone interested in registering for the ride in advance must send an email to cvmaride@gmail.com.
They have now made an additional announcement.
In previous years, the Summer event would kick off with their annual spring flea market. Last year, the market was unable to take place.
However, the 2021 season will usher in the event’s return. The flea market will take place at the Freight Depot. on April 17 beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until 2 p.m.
The announcement stated that they would have vendor spots available inside as well as on the deck. On March 2, they announced via Facebook that all of the vendor spots inside of the depot had already filled up; however, a few spots remain on the outside deck area. Anyone interested in setting up a booth on the deck should contact the Facebook page for more information.
Another announcement followed the next day welcoming Luke and Amy Shumate of Luke Amy Rustic to the Spring Flea Market. These two make unique, one-of-a-kind wooden signs. There are pictures of their signs available on their business Facebook page under the name Luke Amy Rustic.
According to one of their recent posts, anyone interested in one of their stock signs or a custom project in advance of the Spring Flea Market can message their Facebook page. They also said, “Hope to see you there!”
After the annual flea market, there will be several more events including the Mecot Camara Memorial Ride and evening lawn concert on May 8 and the Color the River Float on June 12.
There will then be music and food on July 10, August 14 and September 11. The announcement stated that “classic cars, great food and great music is in the works.”
