The Summers County Tax Office will be switching their online tax system to a new company, Global Science and Technology Inc.
According to the County’s Chief Tax Deputy Rhonda Patrick, the system they will be implementing is already being used by the assessor’s office.
Patrick assures that nothing will change for citizens. The change is only to improve the system and make accounting easier for the tax office. According to recommendations presented to the tax office by the assessor’s office, the new company will provide better tech support, which is a current issue the office is facing.
They will likely be running the new system alongside their current one until they are ready for a full rollout. This is primarily to allow the tax office staff to partake in the necessary training. The current intention is to fully transition the system and make the full switch on July 1, which is the first day of the new tax year.
Patrick anticipates improved accounting, better tech support, a better working relationship and an overall better experience with this new company.
This change will not affect county citizens; however, if anyone has questions or concerns, they need to direct them to the Summers County Tax Office by calling 304-466-7112.
