An automobile accident occurred in Lewisburg on Sunday, November 8. At around 11 a.m., a late-model Pontiac sedan was traveling westbound on Route 60 when the male driver lost control.
The vehicle skidded for approximately 50 feet before spinning sideways and crashing through a split-rail fence in front of the West Ridge Apartment complex. The vehicle slid sideways down a hill before coming to rest near the parking lot. Eye-witnesses report that the driver lost control of his vehicle as he came around the bend at the top of the hill in front of the Holliday Dental office. The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department, the Lewisburg Fire Department and the Greenbrier County Emergency Ambulance Service responded to the accident.
The driver, whose head busted out the windshield during the accident, was coherent and alert at the scene. The only noticeable injuries sustained by the man were several cuts on his left hand. The vehicle, however, sustained considerable damage. The majority of the passenger side had been crushed, and several pieces of fencing had shattered through the windows, narrowly missing the driver. Several witnesses to the accident advised the driver to remain seated until assistance arrived. The man was taken by ambulance to the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
