CHARLESTON, W.Va. (The Hinton News) – Governor Patrick Morrisey announced $17,178,347 in Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding through 81 grants awarded across West Virginia.

“No one should have to face the aftermath of a crime alone,” said Governor Morrisey. “These grants put counselors, advocates and safe shelter within reach of victims in every part of West Virginia, and they help survivors understand and exercise their rights as their cases move through the courts. I’m grateful to the organizations that do this work in our communities every day.”

The funding will support services include counseling, emergency shelter, advocacy, transportation and additional services for victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, elder abuse, and other crimes as they move through the justice system.
