ALBANS, W.Va. (The Hinton News) – State Treasurer Larry Pack presented more than $4,800 in unclaimed property funds to the City of St. Albans.
“Returning nearly $5,000 to the City of St. Albans is another great example of how our Unclaimed Property Division is putting money back where it belongs,” Treasurer Pack said. “Whether we are returning funds to an individual, a business or a local government, our goal is always the same – to reunite rightful owners with their money. We’re pleased these funds can now be put back to work for the people of St. Albans.”
The unclaimed property check was valued at $4,875.24 and came miscellaneous payments. Treasurer Pack delivered the check to St. Albans Mayor Scott James in downtown St. Albans on Monday afternoon.
“It was great to have State Treasurer Larry Pack in town. Any time he and his office are here, it’s a good day. We will put these funds to good use,” Mayor James said.
Treasurer Pack recently announced his Office’s Unclaimed Property Division returned more than $3.2 million to more than 7,400 individuals, businesses, and organizations during the month of August.
The Treasurer’s Office has more than $527 million worth of unclaimed property listings in its database. Putnam County has nearly 107,000 listings valued at $10.3 million.
Since the start of Fiscal Year 2027, which began on July 1, 2026, the Treasurer’s Office has returned nearly $4.6 million to rightful owners.
