Hinton, W.Va. (Hinton News) – Leaders of the REACHH Family Resource Center, Inc. at 411 Temple Street in Hinton, W.Va., would like to invite the community to attend a noon Open House on Friday, May 1, to showcase the non-profit’s recent renovations and new services added as a result of federal funding to facilitate the improvements.

Felisha Hartwell, executive director of REACHH Family Resource Center, said light refreshments will be served and tours of the facility will be provided.

Hartwell would like to thank Senator Shelley Moore Capito and Rep. Carol Miller for their support of a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant of $650,000 to make energy efficiency and equipment additions to the three historic buildings that make up REACHH-FRC’s services to Summers County citizens.

The FY 2024 appropriations project approved by Congress for the REACHH Family Resource Center, Inc., in Hinton is wrapping up successfully and the community facility serving Summers County families is seeing many positives from its execution. The REACHH-FRC is also home to the Child Advocacy Center for the county. Senator Justice was the Governor when this project was championed by Senator Capito and Rep. Miller.

Hartwell and her board of directors are now seeking a federal grant and private donations to fund improvements to the child advocacy center they manage, and offer more privacy and integrated services to respond to child abuse and family violence incidents.

REACHH Family Resource Center was founded in 1986 in Hinton, providing a comprehensive and coordinated arrray of needed services including: outreach, crisis intervention, advocacy, information, referrals and linkages, multi-disciplinary service planning, case management, counseling, group support, community education and children’s recreational and educational programs. The staff and volunteers of REACHH-FRC will respond to problems of family and peer violence and abuse, juvenile delinquency and related issues. REACHH-FRC is a 501(c)(3) organization.

More details about REACHH-FRC’s wide-ranging child advocacy and family services are available at https://www.reachhfrc.org/about-us.
