HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – According to a criminal complaint, on March 7, around 22:43, an officer responded to a call received through Summers County 911 for a call regarding a domestic violence in progress. When the officer arrived on the scene, he reportedly spoke to the victim. The victim said that a man, later identified as Russell Lee Adkins, had taken an Easter ornament and thrown it at her. The ornament allegedly ended up hitting her in the hand.

According to the report, the officer could see that there were red marks and scrapes on the victim’s left hand. The officer spoke with Adkins, who allegedly admitted to throwing the ornament at the victim. The criminal complaint states that Adkins went on to say that he had thrown the ornament at the victim because she had first thrown it at him.

The victim reportedly told the officer she hadn’t thrown anything. She said she had just come home from work and tried to hide in the bedroom when Adkins came after her, the complaint states.

At the time of writing, Adkins remains in Southern Regional Jail with bail set at $1,500.
