An impressive lamp post display from the 2024 Fall Festival

ALDERSON W.Va. (Hinton News) – On Saturday, October 4, from 10-3, Alderson will be alive with the flavors and fun of fall. The 4th Annual Fall Festival, sponsored by the Town of Alderson and Alderson Main Street, will encourage visitors to explore the town and all that the vendors have to offer.

The organization will be somewhat different this year with three activity zones. Zone 1 with arts and crafts vendors and more will be near the Fruits of Labor Café and under the Community Market Pavilion, utilizing that shelter and green space. Zone 2 will be on the Monroe County side of the Alderson Memorial Bridge on the green space between the railroad tracks and Railroad Avenue and include food trucks as well as other vendors. Zone 3 will be west of the Historic 1896 C&O Train Depo,t with the music on the platform there. Food trucks and vendors will also be in that space.

The historic Alderson Memorial Bridge will be the site of one photo opportunity and there will be others as well sponsored by City National Bank, Rexroad Supply, Riverview Café and Dollar General. Children’s activities will center on the Alderson Volunteer Fire Department as they recognize National Fire Prevention Month. Local businesses and restaurants will also be open. Alderson Alumni Park and the newly refurbished gazebo will be available for quiet moments between all the exciting action.

The lampposts along Railroad and Riverview Avenues will be decorated as part of the Fall Festival and prizes will be awarded. Don and Marcia Sutherland, Doris Kasley, Hugh Harris Insurance Agency, Sue Ellen Grizzard, and City National Bank all helped sponsor the Fall Festival through their enhanced membership in Alderson Main Street.

There are a lot of festivals and activities during the fall season but Alderson’s, centered on its historic bridge and depot, seems just made for this season.
