MEADOW BRIDGE W.Va. (Hinton News) – Summers County police officers received a call from the Animal Control Officer on July 28 around 1:20 in the afternoon regarding a possible domestic altercation in Meadow Bridge. One individual, identified as Eldridge Bragg Jr., was arrested and charged with domestic violence, assault on an officer and obstructing an officer.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Summers County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to the home in Meadow Bridge, where they made contact with Bragg. Allegedly, Bragg told police that he had “put hands on” the victim.
When police spoke with the victim, she reportedly noted that they had been arguing all morning and that Bragg had “pushed and shoved” her. Additionally, the victim also reportedly stated that this was not the first time a situation of this nature occurred.
The criminal complaint states that Bragg was taken into custody and, while in custody, repeated multiple times that he had “put hands on” the victim.
After being transported to the Sheriff’s Department for processing, Bragg was reportedly placed in the holding cell. After being removed from the holding cell for fingerprinting, the criminal complaint states that Bragg took “an aggressive stance” and stepped toward the officer, causing the officer to fear Bragg would injure him.
According to the criminal complaint, police then attempted to take Bragg into custody, during which time he was reportedly given multiple commands to give officers his hands, all of which he allegedly refused.
At this time, an office struck Bragg, police say. He then reportedly became compliant and officers successfully took him into custody.
