SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) – In life, there’s nothing like having multiple Generations of family around.  It means there’s more love to go around, more stories to share and more seats around holiday tables.  The Pack Family is extremely blessed with five generations.

Back in 2002, the Packs celebrated with five generations including Effie Furrow, Mollie Pack, Dave Pack, Kristen Yancey, and Brooklyn Kincaid. This year the 2002 baby that made the 5th generation, gave the family a brand new 5th generation with her daughter Macklyn Ratliff.

All the West Virginia family gathered to celebrate Mollie Pack’s 89th birthday. Brooklyn said that five generations remind us of all the love, wisdom and lessons that a family passes down to one another. She went on to say what an honor it is to have such a large family but even more so to be surrounded by the love of generation after generation.

Summers County Humane Society/ACWP volunteer Martha Braswell receives a grant from the Hinton Area Foundation’s Greg Vandall (left) for $1500 to support K900 field trips to take a van full of dogs to a local park, on a designated day, in the hopes of drawing out new volunteers to come and meet the dogs and give them some exercise. Christina Cochran (right) explained, “It’s hoped these field trips will result in some new volunteers for the humane society, some happy pups, and more community awareness of what we do. The funding will offset the cost of gas to get the dogs back and forth, as well as lunch and other supplies for the volunteers.  There will be future details on this program and when the first dog walks will be."
