Frank Dempsey Petrey Sr.
Frank Dempsey Petrey Sr. went to be with the Lord on October 5th, 2024.
Frank was born in Hinton, WV, on October 31st, 1933, to Carl and Ruby Petrey. Frank served his country proudly in the US Army overseas, in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Frank received a Purple Heart, after sustaining gunshots wounds brought on by enemy fire in Korea.
It was during his basic training in Polk, LA, that he met his amazing wife, Donia, and together they raised three children and became a Military Family living in West Virginia, Texas, Washington, and Munich, Germany.
After Frank’s time in the service, he and his family settled in Newport News, VA, where he sold used cars and opened three car lots.
Frank loved spending time with his six grandchildren. Frank loved the history of this great country and would never miss an opportunity to talk about the history of Yorktown and its importance to the freedom of our country. Frank also enjoyed trying his hand at gambling, from time to time, which made Aruba a favorite traveling destination.
Frank is survived by two out of three of his children; his six grandchildren; and three out of his eight siblings.
This obituary was written out of the greatest amount of love from his siblings, Charles Petrey, Bobby Joe Petrey, and Dorothy Williams-Zehr.
