MONTGOMERY COUNTY Va. (Hinton News) – Jason Lee McDuffy, 44, of Beckley, West Virginia, died at the scene on Peppers Ferry Road in Montgomery County yesterday after being shot by police.

The incident began in Giles County when McDuffy was stopped by police with a suspected stolen trailer. McDuffy fled the traffic stop and led police on a chase into Montgomery County and onto Peppers Ferry Road, just outside the Town of Christiansburg. As officers approached the vehicle, McDuffy presented a firearm and was shot by police.

The Virginia State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Salem Division, at the request of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, is conducting the investigation.

Once the investigation has been completed, the findings will be turned over to the Montgomery County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review.
