BECKLEY W.Va. (Hinton news) – As the Spring season approaches, Active Southern West Virginia is thrilled to unveil the Spring 2024 Kids Run Club mini-grant, which opened its doors on Feb. 12. This presents a golden opportunity for schools across West Virginia to play a pivotal role in enhancing children’s well-being by offering a chance for them to be active and involved after school in a secure and encouraging setting.

Active SWV believes that every child deserves the opportunity to flourish, and the Kids Run Club program provides precisely that. This free, organized, and enjoyable program empowers children to stay active while instilling essential health habits. The program integrates dynamic activities, proper warm-ups, and cool-downs, fostering a love for exercise and overall well-being from an early age.

The Kids Run Club mini-grant is designed to enable children to thrive in a secure and supportive environment, with dedicated teacher volunteers making a lasting impact. The mini-grant offers a plethora of resources to bolster your efforts, including online coaches’ training, mailed training manuals for all coaches, end-of-season medals for participants, technical support from Active SWV, and $250 funding for exercise equipment and other health essentials – all readily available.

Who Can Apply? We extend a warm invitation to all teachers and staff in schools across the state! Whether you’re starting a new Kids Run Club or continuing a previous one, Active SWV invites you to be part of this journey. The Kids Run Club mini-grant aspires to reach more children throughout the state, and we seek your assistance in making it a reality. Previous mini-grant recipients are encouraged to reapply, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming new faces into the Active SWV family. Together, let’s foster a culture of wellness and physical activity for West Virginia’s children.

Take the First Step: The application process kicked off on Feb. 12 and concludes on March 20th. Visit https://activeswv.org/2024/01/spring-2023-kids-run-club-mini-grant-2/ to submit your application and take the initial stride toward empowering West Virginia’s kids this spring.
