SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) – Hinton Area Foundation held its grant reception for recipients of the Making A Difference and Learning Innovation Educational Grants. The reception was held at the Parmer Center on Monday, Oct. 30.
The Making A Difference grant uses allocated funds from the MAD endowment to support community improvement projects proposed by local organizations that have already raised funds and need additional funds to complete a project. This year’s recipients received more than $9,000, combined. This year’s recipients are Barbara Parmer, Janice Gore, Andrea Richmond and Melissa Lowe.
The Learning Innovation Educational Grants are awarded to Summers County teachers, grades Pre-K through grade 12, who are in need of funding for projects that involve and benefit their students through innovation, creative learning, educational merit, and student achievement goals. Recipients for this year received a total of $2,000, combined. This year’s recipients are Cassady Berry, Lindsay Cales, Susan Newsome, Braina Miller and Steven Starliper.
