TALCOTT W.Va. (Hinton News) – The Talcott Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Pig Roast on Saturday, Oct. 1, from noon to 5 p.m. at the John Henry Historical Park. All proceeds raised during the event will go back into the fire department.
This year marks the 6th year that the Talcott Volunteer Fire Department has been reopened. The department closed briefly but successfully reopened in 2016.
The Pig Roast is a major fundraiser for the Talcott Volunteer Fire Department. The event features a variety of activities for all ages, including live music, games, a car show, and a cornhole tournament. There will also be food and drinks available for purchase. The first pig roast was held on Oct. 1, 2016.
The cornhole tournament registration will start at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $10, and the first-place winner will take home 50% of the pot. Teams will be drawn randomly.
The car show registration will begin at 11 a.m., and the entry fee is $15. There will be prizes and awards for the best cars in the show.
Food prices are $15 for adults, $10 for ages 6-12, and kids ages 5 and under eat free. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs. It is free to come listen to the music and browse the event.
The Talcott Volunteer Fire Department is a vital part of the community. The department provides fire protection and rescue services to the residents of Talcott and surrounding areas. The department is also active in community events and outreach.
