HINTON (Hinton News) – The streets of Hinton were alive with the sights and sounds of the annual Fireman’s Parade this past Friday night. Always a festival favorite, the streets were lined with people eager to show support for their favorite emergency services vehicles.
Departments from across the county showed up and showed off their finest. Hinton Fire Department, the host of the event, had all of their trucks on display. The Talcott, Forest Hill, Sandstone, Pipestem, Summers County and Jumping Branch departments were also well represented.
Additionally, Trucks came from surrounding areas to show off their incredible apparatus. Green Valley, Union, Fairlea and Meadow Bridge were among the out-of-town units joining the parade.
Water Festival royalty adorned the top of Hinton’s ladder truck. Always popular with the crowd, the queen and her court make a welcome sight on the parade route.
Representing the ambulance category was Summers County EMS. Other ambulances joined in the festivities for the night, including Bluefield.
A variety of food was available to enjoy during the Water Festival. The Taco Trolley and Francine’s Sweets were among those providing delicious fare to hungry festival goers. Bouncy houses provided entertainment for the younger audience, and there was shopping for anyone interested.
Fireworks lit up the sky in a spectacular display, making for a truly remarkable end to the evening.
