HINTON (Hinton News) – The second performance of the 3 Rivers Youth Theater Group – “ALICE” – will occur on Saturday, August 5 at 7 p.m. at the Summers County Memorial Building Auditorium. This “Theatrefolk” version of ALICE IN WONDERLAND is inspired by the Cheshire Cat’s observation that Alice must be mad, otherwise, she wouldn’t be in Wonderland.
The cast is as follows: ALICE – Lillian Henderson; WHITE RABBIT – Lieschen Kula; CATERPILLAR – Leah Comer; PIGEON – Cedron McGraw; DUCHESS – Emma Testerman; CHESHIRE CATS – Leah Comer, Aleeya Cantrell & Cedron McGraw; MAD HATTER – Piper Hickman; MARCH HARE – Leah Comer; DORMOUSE – Joelle Kim; KING OF HEARTS – Thaddeus McGraw; QUEEN OF HEARTS – Lillian Kula; DOORS – Joelle Kim, Josiah Kim, Hesed Kim, & Emma Testerman; FOOTMEN – Joelle Kim & Piper Hickman; LACKEY – Aleeya Cantrell; COOK – Hesed Kim; CARDS – Cedron McGraw, Aleeya Cantrell & Leah Comer; KNAVE – Josiah Kim; JURY – Cedron McGraw & Aleeya Cantrell.

The 3 Rivers Youth Theater Program was formed by Lisa Colombo and Cheryl Kula to provide a theater program for grades 4 to 12. The goal of the program is to give the actors a chance to build their confidence to speak in front of groups, to be comfortable in their own skin, to give them an appreciation of the arts, and of course, to have as much fun as possible.
The young actors attended a four-week workshop in February 2023, where they worked on monologues, scenes, theater games, and improv. Since February, they have presented “CHARACTER SHORTS” as their first performance (April). The theatre students are now looking forward to presenting ALICE IN WONDERLAND.
3Rivers wants to especially thank the Hinton Area Foundation, particularly the Ziegler & Gunnoe fund, and t Kiwanis for the funds for this program. The organization also wants to recognize the County Commission for giving us access to the Memorial building for the classes, rehearsals, and of course, performances.
