HINTON, (Hinton News) – Summers County WIC and WVU Extension Service invite WV residents to an informal educational training called Home Gardening on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 3 p.m. at the Summers County WIC Office located at 312 3rd Ave, Hinton, WV 25951. Gardening instruction will be provided by David Richmond, M.S., Agriculture Extension Agent for Raleigh/Summers Co., WVU Extension Service Raleigh/Summers Co.
Special thanks to David Richmond. David was born and raised on a family farm in Raleigh County, West Virginia. His family worked together to produce and manage an average of 20 head of beef cattle, 70 ewes, 50 market hogs, 4 acres of burley tobacco and 50 acres of hay annually. David was active in FFA at Shady Spring High School, earning his State Farmer Degree. He attended Potomac State College where he received an Associate Degree and an Applied Science Degree, both in Agriculture. He then transferred to West Virginia University to further his education, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education in 1991, and began teaching Agricultural Education at Gilmer County High School in Glenville, WV.
He obtained a Masters Degree in Agricultural Education in 1995, also from West Virginia University, went to work for the WVU Extension Service, and has served for the past 28 years as the Agricultural Extension Agent for both Raleigh and Summers counties.
David lives in Daniels, WV with his wife Sherry and has two children, Cody and Kierra.
