TALCOTT, (Hinton News) – Over time, multiple tractor-trailers have gotten stuck on Bacon’s Mountain in Talcott. Each time, emergency services are dispatched, sometimes for hours. Quite often, emergency responders report that the driver was following a GPS route.
After efforts from local officials, including within the County Commission, new signs have been installed. Recently, the West Virginia Department of Highways installed a sign at the beginning of the Talcott Bridge with a message that the road ahead is not suitable for large trucks.
Additionally, a similar sign now sits at the beginning of the Woodrumtown Roads.
Local officials and emergency responders are hopeful these signs help prevent future incidents.
