Golf in Summers County is in full swing. Summers County only lost one golfer, Michael Sprague, at the end of last season. Sean Cooper, Brian Cooper, Marshall Legg, and Christian Dillon returned this year for the bobcats. Additionally, the team gained Xavier Honaker, who is a freshman.
The team has had a successful season under the direction of Coach Jerod Ewing. Recently, on Monday, September 12, the team placed first in the Class A Coalfield Conference. The Bobcats were up against Midland Trail, James Monroe, Richwood, and Greenbrier West.
Sean Cooper was the Class A low medalist with an 80, and his twin brother Brian followed with an 84. Marshall Legg golfed an 85, and Xavier Honaker an 88.
