Frank John Seitz, Jr.

SEITZ

Frank John Seitz, Jr., 94, of Gaylord, MI formerly of Buck, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 9, 2021, at his home.

Born July 28, 1927 in Maspeth (Queens), NY, he was the son of the late Frank John Sr. and Marie Anna Hans Seitz.

Frank was a retired licensed land surveyor and was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a resident of Summers County for 22 years and was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton. Frank was a Eucharistic Minister for many years at the church and a member of the Friars Club at St. Patrick.

Frank received his private pilot’s license in 1963 and spent many decades enjoying his various airplanes and his airport buddies. He was a long-time member of the Antique Airplane Club of Greater New York and served as president for two terms, as well. He especially loved antique aircraft and enjoyed rebuilding his vintage Culver Cadet.

His other hobbies included woodworking, making many furniture pieces for both family and friends, and the church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Francis Seitz; his sister, Lorraine Schwarting; and his sister, Beatrice Seitz.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of nearly 70 years, Marie Elizabeth Keller Seitz; two daughters, Jeanne Ellen Seitz-Goldenberg (Jay) of Hubbard Lake, MI and Patricia Marie DiStefano (John) of Buck, WV; grandchildren, Justin, Matthew, Megan, Zachary, Emma, and Alex; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, December 17 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton with Fr. Meo Bicalso, SVD and Fr. Arthur Bufogle concelebrating. Visitation was 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton with military rites performed prior to the funeral Mass. Interment was in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.

Members of the Friars Club of St. Patrick served as pallbearers.
