Like a tale from a children’s book, Hinton is about to be filled with magical Christmas beings. This includes Mr. and Mrs. Claus as well as the Grinch. Both Santa and The Grinch are taking time away from their busy, albeit contradictory, holiday tasks to take pictures with Summers County residents.
The fun starts with Santa stopping by The Ritz Theater on Dec. 2 around 6 p.m. The theater is also hosting a free Christmas movie, The Star, beginning at 7 p.m. Upon arriving, patrons will be greeted with the sounds of Christmas music performed by the Concord University ConChords. Kids will also have the opportunity to write letters to Santa. After heading home to the North Pole, Santa is going to answer those letters on Classic Hits 98.3 FM, Hinton’s radio station.
Next up is the Photos with Santa event on December 3 beginning at 4 p.m. The elves working at REACHH-FRC/CAC have arranged for Santa to be at their workshop to take pictures with the lovely children of Summers County. Unfortunately, Santa only has so much time with it this close to Christmas. This means it is vital to call and make an appointment as soon as possible at 304-466-2226.
Santa is coming back to Hinton the next day, Dec. 4 for Hinton’s Hometown Christmas Holiday Festival. Be sure to look for him during the parade at 6 p.m.
Mrs. Claus is coming to Hinton with Santa on Dec. 4. According to elf Laura Lilly, Mrs. Claus will be at the Hinton Kroger prior to the festival between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. She is hoping to see all of the local kids come by. There will also be cookies, candy, coloring and a selfie station for memorable photos.
Also coming to town on Dec. 4 is the Grinch, notorious Christmas thief. Anyone who dares can have a picture taken with the Grinch between noon and 5 p.m. on that day. He will be staying at the Hinton Hub during this time. Hopefully, he won’t try to steal the town’s Christmas tree before the lighting ceremony!
